Similar triggers for allergy and asthma

As we all know, the air in the house and outside the house is full of floating dust particles which we breathe in through the nose and mouth. Some of these may cause a temporary reaction to some people while in others it may cause a reaction every time the person is exposed to such a situation.

Such allergic reactions can trigger what is called asthmatic attacks in certain people. Asthma rarely causes allergic reactions in people, but allergies can lead to asthmatic attacks and sometimes allergies caused by air-borne particles sometime cause a double reaction in case of certain people.

People suffering from asthma and allergies need to take certain precautions and should try and avoid situations which trigger the attacks. It is not possible always to learn such situations and protect the immediate environment from being trigger friendly. We need to say once again here that “prevention is better than cure”. It is advisable to take precautions to reduce triggering an attack, for unavoidable situation there is medical treatment associated to allergy and asthma.

allergy and asthma Talking of triggers of allergies and asthma, perfumes, hairspray, wood, perfumes, paints, cigarette, smoke etc are known allergens. Other allergens could include pollen, pet hair, pet dander, dust particles, etc. the list may seem endless with new allergens discovered everyday. The best way to avoid an attack is avoiding these allergens but this would mean living in a bubble which is absolutely not practical and feasible.

Control the Environment

The air in the home and outside is filled with floating particles, many of which are breathed in through the nose and mouth. These triggers cannot be controlled always by the sufferer but, one has to try and control these till it is in their power. People should try and make their house resistant of these allergic and asthmatic triggers to avoid sudden attacks. As far as possible keep the house and the surrounding atmosphere clean. Air conditioners and filtering systems are known to purify the air, it is recommended to maintain room temperature at 68 to 72 degrees. Humidity level should be approximately 40 to 50 percent.

Clothing should not be left on bathroom floors as this encourages accumulation of dust mites and when these clothes are removed from bathroom and put elsewhere in the house, the dust mites spread throughout the place. Another important weapon to clear dust mites in the house is vacuum cleaner filters. The filters which can capture particles as small as 0.3 microns are preferable.

If you cannot afford to buy a new vacuum machine, we suggest you buy a filter from a hardware store, cut it to fit inside the vacuum, this will help your vacuum to contain the dust particles and thus reduce allergy and asthma problems. Hope this tips will help you solve your allergy problems.
